North Down Museum: Home, Politics and War Exhibition
This exhibition explored the changing lives of women during the early 20th Century when women began to break free from the restraints of society and move into the world of politics, work and medicine.
While focusing on local women, the exhibition traced the changing opportunities that became available to them. It highlighted both the sacrifices and contributions made by women during the Great War.
What worked well and what, if anything, didn't?
This exhibition was part of a larger project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This funding provided a Project Officer who was vital in researching and developing the exhibition.
This also enabled the museum to discover the stories and artefacts of local women in order to show that this turbulent time affected a wide range of women in the local area.
